Can I put my purchased copy of BFBC2 on steam?

I just bought Battlefield Bad Company 2 and I want to play it on steam since it's on their marketplace. I didn't buy the digital copy because all I had was cash. Is there any way I can put this on steam? I tried to register it on steam with the code but it said that it wasn't valid.
