Why do parents name their kids such awful names?

I know >_< Celebrities are some of the worst offenders...I mean, Apple? Petal Rainbow Blossom?Moon Unit?? -sigh- all I know is that I'll never name my kids anything like that. I'd definitely pick names from your list.
